Door, vent and quarter glass
Side glass breaks for all kinds of reasons: a break-in, a rock thrown up by a truck, a door slammed in freezing weather, or an accident. We replace:
- Door glass: the main roll-down windows in the front and rear doors.
- Vent glass: the small fixed windows at the front or back of some doors.
- Quarter glass: the fixed side windows behind the rear doors.
Why side windows shatter
Most side windows are tempered glass, which is made to break into small, blunt pieces instead of sharp shards. That makes it safer, but it also means a broken side window cannot be repaired: it has to be replaced. Some newer vehicles use laminated side glass, which cracks like a windshield instead of shattering. Your year, make and model tell us which one you have.
Right after a window breaks
- Take photos of the damage, and file a police report after a break-in.
- Carefully remove loose glass from the seat and door edge, wearing gloves.
- Cover the opening with plastic sheeting and tape to keep the rain out.
- Avoid driving with a broken window if you can, and keep valuables out of sight.
- Call (425) 406-4691 and tell us which window it is.
